FOOTBALL: Let's get back to basics, says Stein
Banbury United manager Edwin Stein says his players must do the simple things right if they are to end their poor run.
The Puritans lost all five Calor League Premier Division games in February, shipping 23 goals in the process and Stein says the rot has to stop, starting with the visit of AFC Totton.
“We are low on confidence,” he admitted. “But it’s no good moaning about it. We just have to roll up our sleeeves and show a bit of character.”
Stein added: “We have been playing the sides that are in the top four and when you have people coming back from injury and suspensions like us, then you have a mountain to climb.
“We’ve got to get back to basics.”
Although Totton are second from bottom, Stein said they would be tough.
He added: “There are no easy games and when you’re going through a run like ours confidence just ebbs away.”
Leon Simpson (calf) faces a late test.
Didcot Town joint boss Ian Concannon is warning his side not to be complacent when they travel to Clevedon in Division 1 South & West.
Although the Somerset outfit haven’t won for seven games, Concannon does not want his side to end that run.
“We beat them 6-2 in our first match in charge, but they’ve had a change in management recently, so it will be a different kettle of fish,” he said.
They are without Kameron Abbassi (calf) and Lance Williams (ankle), while Tom Franklin is expected to recover from a tight hamstring.
