DAVID Hunt drew on his previous experiences with promoted sides to gain some perspective on Oxford United’s poor festive run.

The full back has gone up from the fourth tier with three different clubs.

The most recent, with Crawley Town two seasons ago, included a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Morecambe.

He said: “It’s a matter of taking a step back and analysing it and not panicking or anything like that.

“It’s literally realising what we did wrong and making sure we do it right in the next game.”

It does not mean Hunt was not bitterly disappointed by Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Scunthorpe United.

But the 31-year-old has got better at shrugging off defeats and moving on.

He said: “I’ve grown to (deal with it) as I’ve got older.

“Don’t get me wrong, it has hurt me massively, but I’ve learned that whether I analyse it for rest of the night until the following morning or I forget about it I’m still going to have the same thoughts in my head.

“I’m going to try and do the same things in training and in the next match.”
