Worthington happy with York's solid display
A FINISHING touch was the only thing missing from York City’s performance, according to manager Nigel Worthington.
The Minstermen had the two clearest opportunities of their goalless draw with Oxford United, but goalkeeper Ryan Clarke blocked efforts from Ryan Jarvis and Ashley Chambers.
It kept York in the bottom four, but Worthington does not believe there is much wrong with his team, who have drawn seven of their last nine games.
He said: “Neither team wanted to give anything.
“There were a few chances at either end and nobody was able to capitalise on the day.
“But from a commitment point of view, it was a good honest game of football.
“Unfortunately we have had three or four decent chances and not then hit back of the net.
“Everything else is pretty much in place – and it’s got to stay in place – but we have just got to try and get that final little bit where we put the ball over the line to get us the three points to move us up the league.
“We’ve got to keep toiling away. We are not a million miles off where we need to be, but it’s just everybody trying to find the final piece of the jigsaw.”
