OXFORD United’s injury issues look set to ease as three players are closing in on a return in time for Saturday’s clash with Dagenham & Redbridge.

Jake Wright and Sean Rigg started training earlier this week after recovering from hamstring problems.

Michael Raynes could also be in the squad this weekend following a hip injury, increasing the defensive options which had already been helped by the return of Johnny Mullins in Monday’s 2-1 FA Cup win at Wrexham.

It would be very welcome for the U’s, who have overcome severe selection problems to stay top of Sky Bet League Two and reach the FA Cup third round.

U’s boss Chris Wilder said: “Jake and Riggy both trained on Monday, possibly Raynesey as well – that’s three and Mullins is back.

“There were no injuries (at Wrexham) so that will be a big boost.”

Even with those players returning, United are still missing three senior players. Alfie Potter, Andy Whing and Jon Meades are recovering from surgery and are not due back until February.
