TWO goals in extra time saw Zubry Oxford narrowly edged out in the Sam Waters Cup third round 5-3 by Reading & District Sunday League side Henley Town, writes DARYL RIDGLEY.

Goals from Deniz Kurt and Marcin Walendowski helped Zubry recover a two-goal deficit to finish the 90 minutes with the scores locked at 2-2.

Tomasz Samoluk scored again for the visitors to level at 3-3, but when Zubry were reduced to ten men due to injury, Henley made their numerical advantage count, scoring twice to advance.

Matt Sinclair bagged a hat-trick for the hosts, with the other goals coming from Felix O’Sullivan and Sam Bell Jr.

Abba Athletic fell to a crushing 4-0 defeat at home to Cropredy, Jack Harding scoring a brace to add to goals from Richard Oakey and Chris Young.

Sharman Davis struck 20 minutes from time to give AFC Jericho a deserved 1-0 win at home to another Reading side, Kidmore End.

Division 1

IFFLEY Harriers thrashed Rutherford 10-0 in the Critchleys UTV League to take their tally of goals scored in their last three matches to an incredible 27.

Jack Barrett struck four times, while Chris Morgan netted a hat-trick and Dan Pare a brace, with the tenth going in off a Rutherford defender to mark a thoroughly miserable day for the visitors.

Northway staged a second half comeback to take a point from their clash with AFC Valley in a 2-2 draw. Valley led through David Marsh and Simon Collett but a penalty from Michael Yearwood and an effort ten minutes from the end from Wayne Desmond squared it up.

Division 2

DAN Cox and Kevin Secker bagged hat-tricks as high-flying Black Swan overcame a nightmare start to win 8-5 at Standlake Garage.

The visitors were forced to start the game with only eight players and soon found themselves 3-0 down.

But they forced their way back into the match. In addition to Cox and Secker’s hauls, Nathan Carter and Gary Belcher found the net.

It meant a brace from Gundem Mev, plus goals from Trenden Mev, Josh White and Tim Senior for the hosts were in vain.

Green Tree Wallingford maintained their grip on the top of the table with an emphatic 9-0 victory at Sutton Wanderers.

Jack Eccles and Martin Dawson each scored a hat-trick, Gavin Robinson scored twice and Danny Marks was also on target for the league leaders.

Ashley Jones’ solitary effort gave White Horse Abingdon their first win of the season, moving off the bottom of the table with a 1-0 victory at home to Northway Res.

Woodstock Wanderers and Forest Hill played out a 1-1 draw, Tom Nee netting for the hosts and Craig Watts on target for Forest Hill.

Division 3

STRUGGLING Great Western Park were heavily beaten 11-1 at home to AFC Brightwell.

Kiaran Strange (4), Robbie Spencer (3), Jack McLaughlin (2), Martin White and Charlie Silkstone all scored for Brightwell, with Lee Jones netting the home side’s consolation effort.

A string of defensive errors proved costly for Long Wittenham as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Wallingford Cross Keys.

Andrew Gibbons, Ben Cordery and Dave Norris were all on target for the away side, with Joe Murphy scoring for the hosts.
