FOOTBALL: Oxon sweep Dorset aside

SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL

OXFORDSHIRE Under 16s ran out 4-1 winners over Dorset in the South West Counties competition at Milton United.

Oxon gifted Dorset a goal after eight minutes when a back pass from more than 40 yards caused goalkeeper Ben Taylor problems, and his attempted pass was intercepted by Taylor Leonard, who shot into the empty net.

Oxfordshire went on to dominate, but it wasn’t until just before half-time that they equalised when Kaylem Patterson headed home a George Reid free-kick.

Amer Awadh bravely beat the advancing goalkeeper to a through ball from Adriel George to fire Oxon ahead early in the second half. George then side-footed into the far corner three minutes later.

Jack Heap completed the scoring ten minutes later to give Oxfordshire a comfortable win.
