Bartholomew School go for goal while representing Oxford United in the npower Football League Under 13 Girls Cup area tournament
Bartholomew (Eynsham) came agonisingly close to glory while flying the flag for Oxford United in the npower Football League Under 13 Girls Cup area final.
They were beaten 1-0 by AFC Bournemouth in the decider at Robert May’s School, Odiham in Hampshire, with the south coast club now going on to the regional final at Milton Keynes.
In the semi-finals, the Oxford girls defeated Swindon Town 1-0.
It was their second victory in the competition against Swindon after beating them 2-0 in the group where they also defeated Brighton 2-0, Aldershot 1-0, Portsmouth 3-0 and Crawley Town 2-0 as well as drawing 0-0 with Brentford and losing 3-0 to Bournemouth.
Bartholomew had won the right to represent Oxford after coming out on top of around 30 schools in the club’s competition.
HOLDERS Oxfordshire take on Merseyside in the ESFA Boys’ Under 16 Inter County Trophy third round on Oxford City’s 3G artificial pitch tomorrow (1pm).
