PAWEL Bronk scored the winning penalty as Brize Norton reached the third round with a thrilling 4-3 shoot-out win over Carterton Rangers in the Oxfordshire FA John Fathers Junior Shield, writes Anthony Barlow.

The sides were locked together at 2-2 after extra time, Dan Frizzell and Bronk on target for the hosts, with Craig Williams and Chris Smith netting for the visitors.

But with the scores level at 3-3 in the shoot-out, Brize keeper Michael Burke saved Carterton’s fifth attempt, allowing Bronk to net and seal victory.

FC Nomads also needed a shoot-out to defeat Tackley after the game ended 2-2 after 120 minutes.

Chris Lawrence and Jack Costar scored for Nomads, with Paul Gray and Dan Woodley replying for visitors Tackley.

Nomads were spot-on in the shoot-out, winning 3-0 as Tackley hit a post with one effort, put another wide and saw Nomads keeper Dave McCue save their other attempt.

Warwick Thompkins grabbed a four-timer as Chipping Norton crushed FC Mills 6-0. Arrun Withan and Rhys Warner-Carter sealed it for the hosts.

Steven Burke grabbed a hat trick in Minster Lovell’s 6-4 home win over Hanwell.

Nathan Harris, Eddie Dunn and Scott Thompson were the other marksmen for Minster. Jamie Kennedy hit a hat-trick in Witney Royals’ 7-1 win at Banbury Town Youth. Matt Thompson also scored twice, with Will Griffiths and Luke Rippington completing the rout.

Carterton A overcame Chesterton 2-1 at home, with goals from Dan Sollis and Chris Souldern.
