A LIVERPOOL Legends XI will provide the opposition for Les Robinson’s testimonial in May.

The game against an Oxford United XI at the Kassam Stadium on May 7 is the climax to a season of events celebrating the defender’s contribution to the cub.

Only five players have made more appearances for the U’s than Robinson, who featured 458 times over a decade after signing in 1990.

Liverpool are one of only two English League clubs Robinson did not play against during his career.

And thanks to ex-U’s teammate John Durnin, he will get the chance to cross them off his list.

Paul Walsh and Mark Wright, a former United player and manager, are among those set to feature for the visitors.

Robinson said: “It will mean the world to me to put the United kit on again and lead the team out.

“I am so grateful and am really looking forward to it.

“Durns has done us proud getting Liverpool to town and I am sure it will be a fantastic occasion for everybody.”

Tickets are set to go on sale shortly from United’s ticket office, priced at £10 for adults, £5 for under 18s and £1 for under sevens.

Any purchasers before March 26 will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets, worth £130, to Robinson’s sportsman’s dinner, at Principal Oxford Spires Hotel, on March 29.
