KANE Hemmings did not travel north with the Oxford United squad as he was given time to recover from a minor niggle.
The striker has been troubled by a thigh problem which saw him not risked against Leeds United a week ago.
And Hemmings was left at home along with Charlie Raglan (ankle) ahead of the visit to Oldham Athletic in Sky Bet League One.
United manager Pep Clotet said: “Kane has a tight quad, so I prefer to rest him. It’s not too serious.”
Darious Osei is the Latics’ one injury concern, with a minor hamstring injury.
Goalkeeper Ben Wilson will make his debut after joining on a six-month loan deal from Cardiff City yesterday.
The 24-year-old featured for Oldham in a friendly against a Manchester United XI this week.
