OXFORD United’s away form is not yet a worry for the players as they head to Bolton Wanderers today, according to John Lundstram.

Following the midweek defeat at Southend United, Michael Appleton’s side have collected one point from their five away trips so far in Sky Bet League One.

It is in stark contrast to last season, when the U’s claimed a club-record 14 wins on their travels.

Lundstram was a part of that team, but the skipper is not troubled by the barren run so far this term.

He said: “It’s definitely not a concern yet.

“It’s not been spoken about between the players or by the manager.

“On Tuesday night in my opinion we should have won the game with the chances we created.

“It goes to Bolton now and if we do get an away win it will all be forgotten about.

“I think anyone who watched the game the other night will have seen there’s nothing to be rattled about.”

They are not the only side with a question mark over their form – Bolton’s rapid start has fizzled out in a six-game winless run which will boost United’s hopes.

Despite the 2-1 scoreline at Roots Hall, Lundstram felt the number of chances the visitors created boded well.

And with almost a quarter of the season gone, the midfielder knows United have yet to deliver a 90-minute performance.

He said: “I think anyone who looks at our squad and has seen us play knows how good we are.

“We’ve played well in games, but we definitely haven’t played to our full potential – I think that goes for everyone all over the pitch.

“We can still give that little bit extra and find our feet that little bit more, but when it does come we’ll be dangerous.”

The only positive away league result so far was in the draw at MK Dons a fortnight ago.

Lundstram thinks it will be of use as they head to another of the division’s bigger venues, but also pointed to the know-how in the group who should be familiar with such occasions.

He said: “I think it is useful, but it’s also about experience over the years.

“We’re quite an experienced group. Although not the oldest we’ve all played at big venues.

“I’m sure it was helpful, but no-one is going to be fearful because it’s a big ground.”
