Chief executive Mark Ashton says he is pleased Oxford United have been handed a home tie in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, but insists the focus must be on beating Braintree Town in next week’s replay.
If United beat the Iron they will host Vanarama National League leaders Forest Green Rovers at the Kassam Stadium.
The tie would be played across the weekend of December 4-7, but Ashton is wary of the dangers of looking too far ahead.
He said: “I’m pleased to get a home draw.
“It is certainly winnable, but we have got to get past Braintree first.
“We have just got take it one game at a time and we can’t look any further than the replay at the moment.”
United have not played the Gloucestershire club since they won promotion from the Blue Square Premier Division in 2009-10.
James Constable scored the only goal of the game in their last meeting on November 24, 2009, at the New Lawn.
Forest Green have already beaten a Sky Bet League Two club in this years’ competition.
On Saturday, Elliott Frear’s stoppage time winner handed them a 2-1 victory at AFC Wimbledon.
