DANNY Hylton will not change the way he plays, despite being on the brink of suspension just eight games into the season.

The Oxford United striker has been booked in the last three Sky Bet League Two matches, and having been shown a yellow card in the 3-1 home win over Notts County, knows another will trigger a ban.

But Hylton knows his style of play is what makes him a menace for opposition defences, and he has no intention of altering.

“I cannot believe I have got four bookings,” he said.

“I know others might think it’s not a surprise, but I just can’t get my head round it.

“I obviously don’t want to get a suspension, but yes, I think the way I play means I might get one soon because I run around lots and fight for every ball.

“Maybe I need to practise my tackling, but I won’t change the way I am.

“You have just got to play your natural game. I’m enthusiastic, I like to track back and help the team, but I try my hardest and sometimes that gets me booked.

“I want to play every game, because if I am missing, it gives somebody else a chance to take my place so I don’t want another booking.”

United have failed to win their last two games, losing at Northampton Town before being held to a draw by Portsmouth at the Kassam Stadium last week.

And Hylton said that failing to beat Pompey hurt him more than the loss to the Cobblers.

“A lot of people would have taken a draw with Portsmouth, but not us,” he said.

“When you look back, we could have put a real statement out to the rest of the league.

“I suppose if you go under the radar you can do things quietly, but we want to win every game and we could have won that one by three or four goals, then the other teams in the league would really have taken notice of us.”

He added: “It seemed like a loss after the game, the changing room was so down.

“Personally, it felt worse last week then when we lost at Northampton the week before.

“Morecambe is always a really hard game. People do under-estimate them all the time, but we know they are dangerous.

“But with Saturday and Tuesday games coming up, it’s a chance for us to try and get some momentum.”
