OXFORD United have added to their backroom staff with the appointment of lead sports scientist Scott Daly.

The 27-year-old has joined after three years working with QPR's under 21 side.

He fills the gap vacated by Alasdair Lane, who was head of sports science until parting company with the club earlier this month.

Daly was due to be in Italy this week with QPR, but was able to join up with the U's just in time for the pre-season training camp in Austria.

He said: "Football is crazy like that, I was supposed to end up in Italy and Austria came up at the last minute.

"In the space of 24 hours it completely changed.

"I'm glad I didn't have to wait an extra week to get going.

"Coming over to Austria gives me a chance to meet all the players and staff and really get a feel for what the club is all about.

"It's perfect really."

He added: "Having the chance to work with a first team don't come around too often, so when that opportunity came up I had to take it."
