Skipper Calvin Dickinson hit the highest score in St Edward’s School’s 150-history with a brilliant 181 in a friendly at Oratory School (Woodcote).

The 18-year-old opening batsman's superb knock set the Oxford school on the way to a crushing 227-run victory.

His total beat St Edward’s previous highest score made by Alistair Cane in 1984.

Dickinson’s runs came off 142 balls and included 15 fours and eight sixes, and took his side to 329-3 off 50 overs after he had won the toss and decided to bat.

It was his fourth century for St Edward’s, comfortably surpassing his previous highest score of 120.

He also shared in a record partnership for the school of 276 with Alexander Woodland (109), which beat the 256 compiled by Dickinson and Miles Hammond against The Cryptics last year.

Their second-wicket stand took St Edward’s from 12-1 to 288 before Dickinson, who plays for Shipton-under-Wychwood, was bowled.

Woodland faced 134 balls and hit eight fours and a six Oratory then crashed to 102 all out, despite Will Legg making 57.
