OXFORDSHIRE’S women won both NatWest County T20 Cup matches away to Shropshire, but in contrasting circumstances.

A commanding display in the first game of a double-header resulted in an eight-wicket success.

But a nail-biting finish in the second clash saw them edge home with just two balls remaining.

A great spell by spinner Charley Noble (3-7 off four overs) helped Oxon restrict their hosts to 82-9 in 20 overs at Albrighton.

Opener Lauren Down then hit 42 not out as the visitors eased home.

But it was a much tighter affair in the second game, with Oxon set a target of 107-5.

Down scored 25 and Carla Wood 24no as they edged in.

Oxfordshire Under 17s lost by 33 runs in their Women’s County Championship Group 2 match away to Staffordshire.

Jacqui Mayho (3-23) and Rachel Potter (2-7) helped dismiss the hosts for 83.

But Oxon crumbled to 50 all out at Longton CC in Stoke.

Sophie Mitchelmore fell one run short of a half-century as Oxfordshire Under 15s lost by five wickets to Warwickshire in the Women’s County Championship.

Mitchelmore’s 49 helped Oxon to 128 all out from 38 overs, but Warwickshire eased home.

  • OXFORDSHIRE’S Under 17 boys lost by 46 runs in their County Cup match away to Bedfordshire.

Sam Powell’s 3-37 and Olly Clarke’s 2-21 helped Oxon restrict the hosts to 224-9 off 50 overs in the Group 2B game at Southill Park CC.

Despite an 81-run opening stand between George Reid (55) and Clarke (31), Oxon lost wickets at regular intervals at fell short.

Oxfordshire Under 15s lost by six wickets at home to Devon.

After being dismissed for 107 in the ECB County Cup Group 4A clash at Bloxham School, the hosts made a great start when Joe Chown struck with his first ball.

But Devon recovered from 21-3 to record victory.

Oxfordshire Under 11s beat Dorset by six wickets in a friendly at Bloxham School.

Ben Desmond took 3-30 as the visitors were restricted to 147-7 from their 40 overs.

Charlie Turner top-scored with 34 not out as Oxon won with four overs to spare.
