Oxfordshire Under 13s finished a creditable fourth in the 2012 Taunton Festival.

Oxon got off to a terrific start with a three-wicket victory over Derbyshire.

Two wickets apiece for Jordan Garrett, Jack Tomes and Jonty Robinson restricted Derbyshire to 161-9 from their 50 overs, before Harrison Ward’s magnificent 85 not out led Oxon to 163-7.

Ward then hit an unbeaten 56 to lead Oxon to 183-2 against Northants on the second day.

However, Northants eased to 185-2 in the 39th over.

Against Staffordshire on day three, Oxfordshire posted 163-8, Garrett top-scoring with 56.

But Staffordshire’s strong batting line-up got past Oxon’s total as Hamiaz Mahmood scored 69 and Liam Banks 50, Lloyd Belcher taking 2-30.The tail earned Oxfordshire a creditable draw against Yorkshire on the fourth day.

Yorkshire scored 211-7, with Tom Dingwall taking 2-6 and Max Smith 2-32.

Ward again top-scored for Oxfordshire, but when he was out for 35, Oxon were hanging on for the draw.

They achieved this with Tom Bishop (28no) and No 11 Tyron Eyles seeing Oxon to 141-9 at the close.

The final match saw the roles reversed as Cambridgeshire clung on for a draw.

Garrett hit a fine 76 as Oxfordshire were bowled out for 171.

He then returned excellent figures of 4-23 and Smith 4-26, but Oxon could not get the final wicket as Cambridgeshire batted out the final overs.
