CRICKET: Thame are shot out for just 56
10:30am Monday 14th May 2012 in Other Cricket
THAME Town were bowled out for just 56 to crash to a six-wicket defeat against Falkland in Division 2 West of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League at Church Meadow.
The hosts found themselves inserted on a damp pitch after new skipper Mike Higgs lost the toss.
Only Pratik Patel got into double figures with 26 as his teammates collapsed around him.
Thame had no answer to Falkland’s attack as Hamza Riazuddin (3-14) and Bruce Martin (3-23) sparked the rout.
At 35-7, they were in danger of setting a new record low score for the league.
Coincidentally, it was Falkland who blew Thame away for just 48 on July 31, 2010.
They crept past that figure, but their meagre total was never going to be enough, and although Falkland lost four wickets, with new recruit Vandit Jivrajani picking up two, they claimed victory at a canter.
