Jack Brooks played a key role in helping England Lions salvage some pride with a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh A in Sylhet.

Northamptonshire’s former Tiddington, Oxford and Oxfordshire seamer took three wickets in the opening eight overs as the Lions won the final match of their one-day series.

England still lost the series 3-2, but victory will give them a confidence boost ahead of the two Twenty20 internationals at Dhaka on Sunday and Monday.

Brooks had Imrul Kayes caught behind and Nasiruddin Faruque lbw either side of having Junaid Siddique caught by Jonny Bairstow to leave the hosts 13-3.

The paceman had a sensational 3-4 at that point and ended with 3-35 off his ten overs as Bangladesh were all out for 152 in 44.1 overs.

Brooks was not needed with the bat, as captain James Taylor’s unbeaten 65 off 110 balls led England to 158-4 with 12.1 overs to spare.
