SERIOUS CRICKET HOME COUNTIES PREMIER LEAGUE
HORSPATH slipped closer to relegation from Division 2 West with a four-wicket defeat at Dinton.
It was another tale of what might have been, as having made 192-8 after being put into bat, Horspath had the Bucks club in trouble at 64-4.
But Perveiz Aziz, who survived a chance behind to Andy Wynd early on, hit 69 not out as Dinton secured victory at 193-6 with 2.1 overs to spare.
Jimmy Phillips (55) had earlier repeated his June half-century against Dinton, hitting six fours and two sixes.
But the innings rather fell away as left-arm spinner Shakil Ahmad took 5-65.
Skipper Mike Sutliff and Robert King gave Dinton’s reply a solid start.
But when debutant Jack Biggs, bowling with lively pace, dismissed Gareth Sharpe and Lee Marland in quick succession, Horspath were right in the game.
