INDOOR CRICKET: Tew the perfect champs


Great & Little Tew A beat Sandford St Martin A by 31 runs to be crowned Banbury Indoor League Division 2 champions with a perfect record of seven victories.

Curtley Slatter (26no) and Robbie Cattling (26no) took Tew to 138-1, before Sandford were bowled out for 107, with only John Goffe (39) putting up a fight.

Sandford St Martin defeated Cropredy by 18 runs to claim the second promotion place.

Chris Thompson (26no) and Martin Anson (22) led the way in Sandford’s 113-3, which was boosted by 34 extras.

Peter Cooling hit 23 in reply, but Cropredy fell short on 95-4.

Chadlington finished bottom despite posting their first win with a two-wicket victory against Radway.

Danny Harding starred with an unbeaten 41 as Chadlington clinched victory at 96-4 with two balls to spare.

Bodicote also go down after a six-wicket thrashing by Westbury.

Tom Boardman (29no) and Tom Wilson (27no) saw Westbury to 76-0 off just 4.4 overs.

RESULTS Bodicote 65 (10 ovs, T Boardman 2-27, A Clarke 2-29), Westbury 78-0 (4.4 ovs, T Boardman 29no, T Wilson 27no).

Could be a sign of things to come in the league, good youngsters coming through. Older guys sruggle a bit.
