A Brian Johnston Memorial Trust scholarship is helping one young Oxfordshire cricketer with his dreams of becoming a pro one day.
Pictured picking up the Coronation Cup Award of ‘Young Player of the Year’ at Cumnor CC, Alex Kidd said: “The Trust’s support has been brilliant.
“Winning this award hopefully repays some of their faith in me."
The Trust was founded by Brian’s widow, Pauline, in 1995 after her husband passed away having been the recognised and loved voice of cricket and commentating for nearly 50 years, some of which he served with the BBC.
The objects of the charity are to award scholarships to promising young cricketers and to support sport for the disabled.
