A SENSATIONAL spell from Rachael Potter set up a superb win for Oxfordshire Girls Under 17 against Warwickshire in their ECB County Championship game at King Henry VIII College, Warwick.

Potter tore the heart out of the home side with remarkable figures of 6-15, as four batters were out without scoring.

The remaining wickets were shared about as the hosts were bowled out for 120 all out in the 43rd over.

Oxon were struggling at 28-2 in reply.

However, Sophie Mitchelmore (33) and captain Ellie Noble (39no) shared a match-winning partnership.

Oxfordshire were almost over the line when Mitchelmore was dismissed, but Noble saw them home with 21.3 overs remaining.

  • PAUL Hemming played the key innings as Oxfordshire Over 50s beat Staffordshire by three wickets in a ECB Championship Group 4 match at Whitmore.

It was their sixth win in seven matches and they top the table by four points and are guaranteed a place in the knockout stages.
Oxon’s bowlers restricted their hosts to 174-7 from their 50 overs.
Their run chase was far from plain sailing as the top order got starts, but could not kick on.
Then Hemming scored 52 not out, and with support from the lower order, they got home with eight balls to spare.
