OXFORDSHIRE Over 50s B team began the defence of their Southern Counties Championship title with two victories.

In their opening East Group game, Oxon won by 38 runs against Surrey at Aston Rowant.

Skipper Ross Buchanan top-scored with 63 not out as Oxon recovered from 103-7 to 178-8 from their 45 overs.

Surrey were bowled out for 140, with the wickets shared by all six bowlers used.

In their match against Hertfordshire at Kings Langley, Oxon restricted the hosts to 148-9, Stuart Bullen taking 3-32, while there were two wickets apiece for Steve Kelly and Neil Wilkins.

A quickfire 30 off 32 balls from Russell Hayes put the visitors on track before Buchanan (32) and David Warner (38) shared a stand of 69 as they reached 151-5 with more than six overs to spare.
