Oxford, the newly-crowned ECB Midlands Women's League Division 2 champions, finished the season undefeated after recording a thrilling one-wicket win at Astwood Bank.

The Worcestershire side posted 152-8 off their 45 overs after electing to bat, thanks mainly to a fine knock of 61 from Clare Boycott.

Charley Noble was the pick of the Oxford bowlers with 3-36, backed up by her sister, Ellie, with 2-22.

Oxford’s run chase was soon in tatters as Maddison Adams (6-25) tore through their top order, with none of the first six batters making double figures.

Ellie Bath hit a belligerent 50 to keep Oxford’s hopes alive, before further wickets fell.

However, last pair Sara Morgan and Riannon Brown held their nerve to see the visitors across the line with an over and a half to spare.

Banbury had a comfortable six-wicket win over Charlbury at White Post Road.

After being inserted, Charlbury struggled with only Ellie Norton (34) and Lucy Blacker (26no) making any headway as they posted 142-7.

Emily Ong (2-17) and Harriet Boland (2-34) were Banbury’s most successful bowlers.

Chloe Hill (54) then set Banbury on the way to victory, which was secured by Harriete Whinmill (39no).

The result sees Banbury, who play Moddershall tomorrow, and Charlbury equal on 84 points in second place.
