BANBURY held Division 1 leaders Finchampstead to a draw in a thrilling finish, with the result in doubt until the final over.

Finchampstead and their talented South African seamer Jandre Coetzee have steamrollered all opposition in recent weeks.

But they met their match in Banbury, who recovered from 60-5 to reach 195-9, after being put in to bat.

They were rescued by a superb innings from Lloyd Sabin, who made 86 from 150 balls and received support from Ashley Blanchard (37).

Coetzee took only one wicket, while his opening partner Matt Carter took 4-56.

However, Coetzee shone with the bat making 43 not out off 43 balls, but the task of scoring 12 runs from the final over proved just beyond Finchampstead as they finished on 194-8.

Great & Little Tew continued to establish themselves in the top flight with a comfortable five-wicket success at Reading.

The hosts struggled from the moment Liam Manley took two early wickets.

Thereafter, only Phil Brennan (48) offered any resistance as left-arm spinner Joe Thomas strangled the innings with 3-39 off 20.5 overs.

Chasing Reading’s meagre total of 149, Tew were never in any trouble thanks to a second-wicket stand of 81 between Jordan Garrett (42) and Dain Moreton (46) and eased to victory in the 46th over.
