A SUPERB opening stand between Harry Smith and Jordan Garrett led to Great & Little Tew dominating their drawn Division 1 match at home to high-flying Henley on Saturday.

Smith (83) and Garrett (90) put on 176 for the first wicket.

Both departed within five runs, but useful innings from Dain Moreton and Curtly Slatter took Tew, who failed to reach three figures the previous week, to 258-8 dec from 61 overs.

Left-arm spinner Gurveer Singh took 5-58.

Henley never looked like reaching this total as only one of their top order reached 30.

The improving Joe Thomas turned in a super spell of 3-23 in 14 overs to reduce the visitors to 113-7, but dogged defence from Euan Woods (44no) and Tom Nugent saw Henley close at 168-7.

A superb seven-wicket spell from off-spinner Richard West secured Banbury a 36-run victory at home to Harefield.

Australian Kurtis Patterson struck 84 off 109 balls with nine fours as the hosts made 228-8 dec from 63 overs.

He was supported by innings of 40 from Hugo Darby and Luke Ryan, whose 29-ball knock added a much needed acceleration to the innings.

A magnificent 106 from opener Jack Shiel put Harefield in sight of a shock victory at 154-3.

But West turned the game in dramatic style taking 7-53 from 11.3 overs as the visitors lost their last eight wickets for just 38 runs to be all out for 192.
