ABINGDON Vale won in the top-flight for the first time in their history after thumping visitors Horspath 2nd by 85 runs.

Vale were inserted by Horspath, and were dismissed for 182 as former Vale seamer Jason Cardy took 3-27 and Jehan Mohammed 3-49.

Horspath had no answer to Jeisimhan Diwakar (4-13) and Paul White (3-9) as they were shot out for just 97 inside 34 overs, Mark Skelton finishing 57 not out – the only batsman to reach double figures.

Harry Sutton and George Sandbach were the stars of the show as Oxford Downs moved up to second place with a comprehensive victory at Tiddington.

Sutton returned 5-57 as the hosts were bowled out in the 44th over for 181 – having been 10-3 – Patrick Knightley hitting 62 and Charlie Elliott 40.

Downs, too, were in some trouble early in their reply, falling to 16-3 before a terrific 145-run stand between James Ellwood (63) and Sandbach (94) saw them reach 185-5 in the 43rd over.

Dinton maintained top spot with a 65-run win over visitors Twyford.

Tom Weymes’s 4-57 was scant consolation as Dinton racked up 239-9 in their 53 overs.

Atif Ali then struck 71 in Twyford’s reply, but they were all out for 174 as Ryan Chapman took 4-44 and Will Fisher 3-27.

Banbury 2nd moved third with a three-wicket win over visitors Cumnor, who are still looking for their first victory.

Harry Ackland’s 68 was the main contribution in Cumnor’s 176 all out, Finn Brabham taking 4-26.

Banbury lost regular wickets in their reply, but reached 181-7 in the 37th over thanks to Ben Ward (58no) and Justin Lambden (48).

Aston Rowant 2nd crashed to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Long Marston.

Alastair Bee claimed 6-23 as Rowant were bowled out for just 133, which proved well below par as Rory Miscampbell (59) and Sam Bastin (36no) led Marston to 134-2 in the 34th over.

LUKE Jones scored his maiden Cherwell League century to steer hosts Challow & Childrey to a resounding nine-wicket win at home to Sandford St Martin.

Sandford opted to bat first, posting 190-7 in their 53 overs as Challow’s spinner George Trewby (4-43) starred.

Steve Dobson top-scored for Sandford with a fluent 59.

But the total never looked like challenging Challow, who cruised to victory with almost ten overs to spare.

A 150-run opening stand between Jones (101no) and Mark Foster (60) did the trick, Jones’s ton containing 17 fours and a six.

Cropredy are top after a six-wicket win over Didcot.

Vishane Perera (62) and Dan Swindells (45) saw visitors Didcot to 171 all out, Richard Lynch taking 4-18 and Patrick Somerton 3-57.

Cropredy wasted little time reaching the target in the 36th over as Ed Somerton hit 70 not out and Joe Fox 58.

Oxford 2nd could not prise out Great & Little Tew 2nd’s last wicket as they had to make do with a draw.

Oxford racked up 251-7 in their 53 overs as Alexander Morgan hit 66 and Mursaleen Sadiqi 41.

Joe Porter (4-59) shone with the ball for Oxford, but Tew clung on for a draw at 229-9, thanks largely to Tom Price’s 92.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts were blown away by Bledlow Village’s Tom Moore as they fell to their third defeat in four matches.

Nondies were shot out in the 39th over for just 95 as Moore claimed 6-17, Vasu Shah finishing 37 not out.

Bledlow then eased to 97-4 in 22.5 overs to seal victory.

Leighton Buzzard Town saw off visitors Buckingham Town 2nd by 26 runs.

Tom Callaghan (67) and Dan Scott (66) led Buzzard to 246-6, before Tom Pope took 3-28 as Buckingham fell for 220.
