NICK Rivett’s outstanding bowling performance counted for nothing as Oxford Downs 2nd crashed to a 113-run defeat at home to Wolverton Town in Division 3.

Rivett returned sensational figures of 8-45 to help dismiss Wolverton for 171 in the 48th over.

But Downs were blown away in their reply, Idris Butt taking 4-19 as the hosts were shot out for 58 inside 30 overs.

Alastair Gibbins smashed a brilliant century, but it was not quite enough for Bicester & North Oxford, who had to settle for a draw in their home clash with East Oxford.

The hosts rattled up a massive 304-6 dec in their 53 overs as Gibbins hit 111 and Nick Moorman 95.

East Oxford replied with a spirited chase, but settled for a draw, closing on 241-8 in their 47 overs.

Veterans Mickey Thomas and Neil Megson again ruled the roost for Banbury 3rd, but they could not force victory against local rivals Horley.

Thomas hit 60 and Megson a classy 46 not out to help Banbury to 215-7 in their 53 overs, Pete Papanfus taking 5-59.

In reply, Horley got close to snatching victory, thanks to Dave Eaton (44) and Craig Lynes (42no).

But 4-31 from ex-Oxfordshire seamer Keith Arnold held the hosts at bay as they closed just nine runs short of victory at 207-8.

Westbury could not prise out Great Brickhill’s last man as they were held to a draw.

Charlie Harper (49no) and Sam Harper (40) helped Westbury to 262-9 in their 53 overs.

Brickhill finished well short of the target, as Graham Judd took 3-19 and Harry Williams 3-35, Brickhill closing on 216-9.

OLLIE Burney followed up last weekend’s five-wicket haul in Division 4 with another superb bowling performance to help Witney Mills to a six-wicket win over visitors Thame Town 2nd.

Burney took 4-76, Pierre Lefort 3-44 and Ben Madden 3-47 as Thame were all out for 212, David Saunders hitting 69 not out.

In reply, Mills eased to 214-4 Adam Mayho scoring 67 and Malcolm Evans 43.

Minster Lovell made it two wins from two as they edged past visitors Brackley by three wickets.

Jack Simpson’s 3-13 helped to bowl the visitors out for 102, but Minster made hard work of reaching the target.

They were thankful to Ollie Mersh, who hit 42, as Minster edged in at 103-7.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd were denied victory by a resolute Horspath 3rd, who held on for a draw.

Shipton were all out off the final ball for 194, Russell Hayes hitting 60 and Adrian Manger taking 6-27.

Rob Panting then claimed 4-47 in Horspath’s reply, but they held out at 172-9 to deny Shipton maximum points.

Tiddington 2nd fell to a seven-run defeat at Stokenchurch.

Young leg-spinner Leon Desai took 4-23 as the home side were bowled out for 167.

Jacob Davies then hit 38 in Tiddington’s reply, but they were dismissed just short at 160 as Zahid Aslam took 4-30 and Josh Triggs 3-30.

Bletchley edged out visitors Dinton 2nd by one wicket.

Dinton set 229-9, Manan Parmar top-scoring with 65 and Najam Rehman hitting 50.

Matt Shepherd (77) and Naeem Shahzad (53) then saw their side to 230-9.

MILES Picknett scored an unbeaten half-century to help Oxford 3rd to an eight-wicket win at home to Kimble in Division 5.

Arthur Muir (4-24) and Mark Murfett (3-37) helped to dismiss the visitors for 114, before Picknett hit 54 not out and Tom Gallagher 49 to see Oxford to 115-2.

Kingston Bagpuize brushed aside visitors Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd by eight wickets.

They dismissed Buzzard for only 83 in the 32nd over, and then Marco Cecchini top-scored with 44 not out to steer Kingston home at 84-2.

Cropredy 2nd edged past hosts Long Marston 2nd by two wickets.

Marston were all out for 168 as James Coleman, Mark Twynham and Jamie Jennings all took three wickets.

George Buckingham then made 41 to steer Cropredy to victory at 171-8.

Abingdon Vale 2nd denied hosts Bledlow Ridge victory with a battling performance for a deserved draw.

Ridge batted first and racked up 265-9 dec in 42 overs as Mark Dakin hit 102, skipper Matt Darley finding his line to take 6-70 for Vale.

Led by Tom Allen (78) and Chris Butcher (63), the visitors made a valiant chase, before opting to bat out for the draw at 232-8, lasting 58 overs to avoid defeat.

A tremendous spell from Adam Jones set Cumnor 2nd up for a four-wicket win over Didcot 2nd.

Jones took 4-23 from 13 overs as Cumnor restricted their hosts to 151-9.

Alex Hodder-Williams then scored an unbeaten 60 and George Setterfield 40 not out as Cumnor got home in the 45th over.

GEORGE Hook’s outstanding haul of 8-36 was all in vain as Challow & Childrey 2nd lost by 29 runs at Banbury 4th in Division 6.

Hook helped to dismiss Banbury for 190 in the 53rd over, but Chris Phillips then took 5-33 as Challow were all out for 161 in their reply.

Mohammed Fayyaz claimed 7-17 to help Twyford 2nd to a nine-wicket win at home to Great & Little Tew 2nd.

Tew were dismissed for 88, despite Dave Freeman’s 46.

Ben Elkington then hit 64 in Twyford’s reply as they cruised to 90-1.

In Division 7, James Reynoldson fell one short of a century in Aston Rowant 4th’s 143-run win over Cublington.

Rowant racked up a massive 293-7 in their 45 overs, before veteran Paul Humphreys took 3-27 as the visitors were bowled out for 150.

Elliott Crowther’s 5-22 helped Minster Lovell 2nd to their second win as they brushed aside hosts Westbury 2nd by seven wickets.

The home side were shot out for 92, before Minster cruised to 93-3 in the 25th over, Sam Walker hitting 41.

Great & Little Tew 4th were skittled out for just 35 and crashed to a ten-wicket defeat at home to Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd.

Nine-man Tew had no answer to Simon Dickens (5-10), before Shipton eased home.
