VETERAN off-spinner Richard Tredwell rolled back the years with five wickets as leaders Westbury hammered visitors Bicester & North Oxford by 72 runs to maintain their place at the top of Cherwell  League Division 3.

Tredwell’s fine figures of 5-63 put the seal on Westbury’s victory after they had racked up 268-9 in their 50 overs after being invited to bat first.

A 90-run stand between openers Tom Gurney (70) and Olly Tice (35) got Westbury off to a fine start.

Charlie Williams made 42, before Sam Harper added some middle-order impetus for the home side by striking 47 from 37 balls.

Visiting skipper Ryan Moore took 3-56 and Chris De Kock 3-70.

Bicester got off to a poor start, with Nick Moorman bowled in the first over.

But a 76-run partnership from Alister Gibbins (65) and Matthew Collins (34) got Bicester back on track.

But it was the introduction of Tredwell into the attack that turned the tide.

The visitors lost their final five wickets for 46 runs, being bowled out for 196 in the 48th over as Westbury collected maximum points.

Horley were too strong for Oxford Downs 2nd, crushing their visitors by 122 runs.
Downs were made to rue their decision to bowl first as Horley racked up a massive 314 all out in 47.4 overs.
Dave Clark (76), Steve Palmer (69) and Dave Eaton (65) shone.
Ben Ling struck 88 in Downs’s reply, but they were bowled out for 192, Jamie Abbotts taking 3-40 and Craig Lynes 3-50).

East Oxford are still looking for their first win after falling to a six-wicket defeat against visitors Wolverton Town.
Zia Hamid hit 43 in East Oxford’s below-par 145 all out, Idris Butt taking 4-11 for the visitors.
Kabir Arif then scored 54 to lead Wolverton home at 147-4.

Cublington hammered hosts Great Brickhill 2nd by 186 runs.
Ketan Patel hit 75 in Cublington’s 277-9, before Will Rodnight took 4-37 as Brickhill were skittled out for 91.

Division 4 leaders Minster Lovell suffered a scare before edging home against visitors Bletchley Town in a low-scoring clash.
Minster inserted their visitors on a damp pitch, and ran through their card to dismiss them for just 68, Eddie Dunn taking 3-17.
Minster also struggled with the conditions, losing six wickets in their chase, before reaching 69-6, Jude Ramanadanpulle the pick of the Bletchley attack with 3-19.

Thame Town 2nd picked up their first win of the season, seeing off local rivals Tiddington 2nd by 72 runs.
Thame posted 226-9 in their 53 overs as Matt Ridgway hit 60 and Matt Furness 47, Luke Hurley taking 3-55.
Alastair Thomas then took 5-46 in Tiddington’s reply as they fell for 154.

Horspath 3rd were denied victory by a resolute Dinton 2nd and had to settle for a draw.
Craig Wharton hit 76 and Ryan Hicks 45 not out in Horspath’s
251-6.
Dinton held on at 204-8 to secure a draw, Aiden Burrows top-scoring with 42.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd drew for the fourth time in six matches as visitors Witney Mills denied them a victory.
Russell Hayes made 61 in Shipton’s 212-6.
Veteran off-spinner Paul Hemming then claimed 5-49 in Mills’s reply which closed on 172-8, as Pete Claridge (49) and Sam Cross (41) shone with the bat.

Stokenchurch won a thriller against Brackley, edging home by one wicket in a low-scoring affair.
Paul Maddock took remarkable figures of 6-10 in 11.2 overs as Brackley were dismissed for 104 in the 36th over, Adam Wirth scoring the majority of his side’s runs with 66.
But Stokenchurch lost wickets regularly in reply and were grateful to 38 from No 8 Zahid Aslam as they scraped home in the 43rd over

Joe Butcher dropped down from Abingdon Vale’s first team and smashed a career-best 159 to help the club’s 2nd XI to a 125-run victory at Kimble in Division 5.
Butcher and Max Owen shared a club-record stand of 219 for the third wicket as Vale racked up 261-4 dec in 48 overs, Owen hitting 61.
Butcher’s impressive knock came off only 117 balls.
The target proved way beyond the home side, who were bowled out for 136.
Butcher completed an outstanding day with 3-33, while his younger brother Matt took 4-49 and Matthew Darley 3-22.

Michael Race smashed a brilliant century for Cumnor 2nd, but it was not enough to force victory as Cropredy 2nd batted out for a draw.
Race showed a welcome return to form, hitting 17 fours in his 101.
With Alex Hodder-Williams chipping in with 61, Cumnor reached 273-5 in their 53 overs.
Cropredy made no attempt at chasing the target, opting instead to play for the draw, which they comfortably achieved at 200-5, Harry Walters hitting 80 and Jamie Jennings 50 not out.

Kingston Bagpuize were well-
beaten by visitors Long Marston 2nd, who cruised to a 126-run victory.
Stuart Bullen (4-41) and George Woodley (3-37) could not prevent Marston from posting 239 all out in 51.5 overs.
Matthew Wareham top-scored with 57.
Sam Woodruff then claimed 5-43 as Kingston were dismissed well short on 113.

Oxford 3rd fell to a six-wicket defeat at Leighton Buzzard Town 2nd.
Miles Picknett struck 59 and Ross Buchanan 42 in Oxford’s 195-9.
James Raine then scored 69 and Riaan Krynauw 43 not out to steer Buzzard to 197-4 in 31.4 overs.

Didcot 2nd drew with visitors Bledlow Ridge.
