Division 1

HORSPATH knocked Dinton off top spot in the Cherwell League's top flight after posting a seven-wicket victory.

Winning the toss, Horspath stuck their visitors in, and quickly routed them for just 87.

Jamil Faruk (4-11) and Asad Rafiq (4-20) made the most of the favourable bowling conditions as nine Dinton wickets fell via catches.

Akheam Fox then struck 31 and Dominic O’Connor was unbeaten on 29 as Horspath eased to 88-3 inside 19 overs.

Long Marston condemned sorry Tiddington to their sixth straight defeat, running out 11-run winners to go top of the table.

The visitors opted to bat first after winning the toss, and Sam Butler’s 90 helped them set 167-8 in 40 overs, Benny Madden and Nick Pykett each taking 3-16.

Will Goodman (37) and Pykett (31) batted well in Tiddington’s reply, but they struggled to 156-7.

There were two centuries at Great Brickhill, who edged past visitors Leighton Buzzard by seven runs.

George Morris hit 118 not out in Brickhill’s 283-5, Jack Kempster taking 4-71.

Phil Whatmore then bludgeoned 150 in Buzzard’s reply, but despite that knock, he could not prevent a narrow defeat as Ahad Khan (5-52) helped to bowl them out for 276 with four balls remaining.

The matches between Cumnor and Banbury 2nd and Twyford and Aston Rowant 2nd were both washed out before a ball was bowled, each team taking six points.

Division 2

ABINGDON Vale made the most of Challow & Childrey’s match being washed out to close the gap on the leaders after an 88-run win at Great & Little Tew 2nd.

Winning the toss, the home side put Vale in first, and they posted 186-8 in 51 overs.

Sam Chilvers top-scored with 37, while Matthew Warner took 5-46 for Tew.

The home side were no match for spinners Paul White and Jonathan Jenkinson as they crashed to 92 all out in their reply.

White, who has struggled to hit top form this season, returned 4-23 and the consistent Jenkinson took 3-28 as Abingdon close to within nine points of top spot following a fourth successive success.

Oxford Downs stayed in touch with the leaders after an easy seven-wicket win at home to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.

Atif Ali’s 64 not out was the only bright spot in Nondies’ 146 all out, Harry Sutton claiming 4-48 for the hosts.

Frankie Crouch (57) and George Sandbach (41) then shone in Downs’ reply, easing them home at 149-3.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondies 5

Oxford 2nd finally got off the mark with their first win, seeing off visitors Cropredy by 51 runs.

Harold Porter hit 51 in Oxford’s 170 all out, Jake Walters doing most of the damage with 4-49, while George Buckingham claimed 3-29.

Kasim Nawaz then returned figures of 4-26 as Cropredy tumbled to 110 all out in reply.

Oliver Ong claimed five

wickets to help Sandford St Martin to a six-wicket victory at home to Buckingham Town 2nd.

Ong’s 5-35 and Chris Thompson’s 3-24 condemned the visitors to 127 all out, and then Thompson scored 37 not out to lead Sandford to victory on 130-4 in the 39th over.

The match between Wolverton Town and Challow & Childrey was abandoned, both sides taking six points.

Division 3

HORLEY hammered struggling Oxford Downs 2nd by the huge margin of 229 runs.

The home side racked up 296-7 declared, led by Dave Clark’s brilliant 103 and Dave Eaton’s 57 not out.

Downs were never in the hunt as they crashed to 67 all out, Pete Papenfus taking 5-18 and Adam Webb 5-42.

Blewbury & Wallingfordhad no answer to Harry Bartlett, who starred as Bledlow Village went top of the table with a two-wicket win.

Bartlett claimed 4-42 and Ben Moore 4-46 as Blewbury were bowled out in their final over for 178, Mark Carey top-scoring with 52.

Bartlett then hammered a spectacular 131 not out in 112 balls to lead Bledlow to 184-8, Scott Harris taking 4-46.

Banbury 3rd picked up their second successive win after seeing off visitors Tiddington 2nd by 34 runs.

Imran Mohammed’s 31 saw Banbury set a below par 136 all out in tough conditions, Luke Hurley (4-57) and Leon Desai (3-19) the pick of the visitors’ attack.

Alex Glastonbury then claimed 5-37 and Ross Freeman 4-22 as Tiddington crashed to 102 all out in reply.

Didcot had to settle for draw in their home clash with Great Brickhill 2nd, whose stubborn resistance denied the hosts maximum points.

Ian Demain (85) and Simon Pritchard (67) helped Didcot to a formidable 290-8 in their 53 overs.

But they perhaps regretted not declaring early, as Brickhill crawled to 145-7, despite Aiden Kammel taking 3-44.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd’s clash at Cublington was abandoned without a ball bowled, both sides taking six points.

Division 4

BICESTER & North Oxford routed hapless Witney Mills for just 69 as they posted a crushing nine-wicket victory to maintain their unbeaten start.

Bicester won the toss and had no hesitation asking Mills to bat.

And the visitors were quickly in trouble as they lost Ross Morgan and Liam Hare cheaply.

Only No 3 Pete Claridge, managed to get into double figures as he scored a laboured 21 in 97 balls.

Extras was the top scorer in the Mills innings.

Richard Simpson was the pick of the Bicester attack with 4-13 in 12 overs.

There were also two wickets apiece for young skipper Ryan Moore (2-9) and Kishan Dave (2-3).

Mills’s innings lasted only 37.1 overs, giving Bicester plenty of time to reach the target.

But they took only 17 overs to seal victory as Nick Moorman hit 22 not out and Haris Naeem 21 in a comfortable success.

OXFORD 3rd succumbed to a one-man Stokenchurch onslaught as they crashed to a ten-wicket defeat.

Oxford would have been reasonably satisfied with their score of 209-9 in 53 overs, Miles Picknett hitting 73 and Julian Lawton-Smith 64.

Paul Maddock took 5-58 for the hosts, while Arshad Latif claimed 3-32.

It was then left to Latif to bludgeon an amazing 160 not out in 113 balls on Stokenchurch’s postage stamp sized ground, the

big-hitting batsman slamming 16 fours and ten sixes to lead his side to

214-0.

East Oxford brushed aside hosts Bletchley Town with a crushing 159-run victory.

Mukhtiar Singh (69no) and Chetan Walia (64) helped East Oxford to 222 all out in 42 overs, Sam Newman taking 5-55 for the hosts.

Atif Ali then claimed brilliant figures of 6-12 for East Oxford as Bletchley were routed for 63.

Leaders Westbury marched on at the top with a crushing nine-wicket success at Dinton 2nd.

Dinton were shot out for 109, and Westbury took

just 22 overs to reach

110-1.

Brackley’s Josh Markham took 5-16 to help his side to a seven-wicket win at Kimble.

The home side were bowled out for just 98 as Markham shone with the ball. Only Bradley Rose (33) provided any resistance.

Brackley then eased to maximum points by reaching 103-3 in the 21st over.

Division 5

THAME Town 2nd consolidated top spot after a nine-wicket victory at home to Banbury 4th.

Andrew Thomas took 3-12 and Chris Jeffcock 3-19 as Thame dismissed their visitors for only 99 in the 47th over.

And Thame wasted little time in reaching their target as Richard Carr (54no) sped his side to 100-1 in the 16th over.

Abingdon Vale 2nd moved up to second place after a comfortable 65-run win against Didcot 2nd at Hales Meadow.

Abingdon posted 150-9 in their 53 overs, Paul Butcher top-scoring with 49 and Tom Allen returning to form with 32.

Veteran seamer Danny Hartley then claimed 5-31 as the visitors succumbed to 85 all out.

Kingston Bagpuize fell to a 12-run defeat at Bledlow Ridge.

Brothers Will Woodley (4-41) and George Woodley (3-24) helped dismiss the hosts for 205, John Rolfe top-scoring with 58.

James Boon then hit 70 and George Woodley 41 in Kingston’s reply, but they were bowled out for 193 as Mohsin Sabri took 4-26.

Horspath 3rd came agonisingly close to victory at Chearsley, but finished one run short in a drawn match.

Matt Ricketts hit 52 in the visitors’ 153-9, Andrew Cummings taking 3-28 for Horspath.

Jason Cardy (39) and Luke Finch (30) kept Horspath in touch, but they ran out of overs with the score on 152-8 – and had to settle for a draw.

Cumnor 2nd’s Chris De Verteuil claimed seven wickets, but finished on the losing side as his team fell to a 57-run defeat at Leighton Buzzard 2nd.

Riaan Krynauw top-scored with 52 in Buzzard’s 130 all out, De Verteuil taking superb figures of 7-31.

But only Tom Harkness (31no) got going in Cumnor’s reply as they slumped to 73 all out.

Divisions 6-9

RUSTAM Rabani took a hat-trick for Division 7 leaders Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts 2nd to help his side to an eight-wicket win at home to Horspath 4th.

Rabani’s treble came in figures of 5-38 as Horspath were restricted to 153-7 in their 45 overs.

Nondies then eased to victory at 154-2 as Andy Haynes hit 59 and Tauqeer Ahmed 44 not out.

In Division 6, Alastair Worby returned 6-30 as Cropredy 2nd beat Horley 2nd by eight wickets.

Worby’s fine haul helped dismiss the visitors for 149, despite the best efforts of No 7 Darren De Bruyn, who smashed a rapid 88.

Charlie Wise then hit 51 as Cropredy eased to 153-2.

In Division 8, Westbury 2nd marched on with another crushing victory, this time putting visitors Abingdon Vale 3rd to the sword in ruthless fashion.

Tom Boardman hit yet another century (130) as Westbury racked up an impresive 252-4 declared in just 35.1 overs.

Harry Rymer then took 3-7 as Westbury dismissed their visitors for just 122 to wrap up a

130-run victory and stretch their lead at the top to 44 points.

Witney Mills 2nd edged out visitors Tiddington 3rd by two wickets.

David Mace took 6-30 as Mills dismissed Tiddington for 121, before James Harrison hit 30 to help Mills over the line at 122-8.

In Division 9 South, Challow & Childrey 3rd saw off hosts Abingdon Vale 4th by eight wickets.

Alex Frost’s 6-22 helped to skittle Vale for 87 – opener Max Owen contributing more than half the score with a determined 45.

Freddie Robson then hit 53 not out to lead Challow to 88-2.
