Abingdon Vale could not prise out Long Marston’s last pair in an agonising one-wicket defeat.

Vale were inserted and dismissed for 138, with Rob Hood (33no) stranded. Pete Toovey (4-23) and Adam Wells (3-38) did most of the damage.

Left-armers Paul White (4-16) and Dan Hartley (3-75) saw Marston collapse from 83-3 to 95-9, but the final pair scrambled the winning runs.

Rain ruined the match between Aston Rowant 2nd and Wolverton Town.

The visitors made 232-6, with Asim Hussain (50) and Aky Hussain (54) to the fore, but a shower reduced Rowant’s reply to 36 overs as the hosts closed on 129-6.

Paul Plumridge made 36 and Zaheer Khan took 3-31.

A Rowant 2nd 3, Wolverton Town 17

Sam Cheshire (65) and Andrew Sabin (63) steered Banbury 2nd to an impressive victory at home to local rivals Sandford St Martin.

The visitors had posted 183-7 thanks to Chris Thompson (77) and Martin Anson (51), Josh Megson taking 3-14.

Banbury cruised to 184-4.

Tiddington thrashed Banbury Twenty by eight wickets, only Jak Soppett (33) showing resistance in Twenty’s 147 all out against Sam Hollingshead (5-43).

Sammy Thomson (49), then William Cooper (67no) sealed the spoils for Tiddington.

Graeme Carter creamed 121 and Doug Aris 73 as Great Brickhill piled on the runs at Challow & Childrey.

The pair added 178 for the second wicket in a total of 238-6. Olly Dimbylow took 4-42 from 13 overs.

Despite 36 from Ian Demain, Challow tamely subsided to 106 all out in the 32nd over.
