OXFORD 2nd bounced back from their opening day defeat to beat Great & Little Tew in a tense finish.

Despite losing by ten runs, Tew players produced the best individual performances.

Joe White took 6-39 in an impressive 17-over spell that featured seven maidens as Oxford were restricted to 186-9, then Ashley Hubbert (52) and Edmund Gross (47) batted well in reply.

But Oxford captain Brad Sutherland, who had earlier top scored with 35, claimed 3-48 as Tew succumbed for 176.

Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts put in another sound performance, but could not see off Bourton Vale.

Shabaz Alam (67), Pablo Mukherjee (50) and James Green (32no) capitalised on some sloppy Vale fielding to take Nondies to 240.

Henry Keeling then held together Bourton’s reply, but the loss of seven wickets saw them fall behind the required rate and close on 205-7.

Mark Strong (3-41) was the most effective Nondies bowler.

Daryl Johnson’s 5-88 set Oxford Downs on their way to victory at Bletchley Town – but they only just crawled over the finishing line.

Matt Shepherd made 79 and Raj Lall 37 in the home side’s 225 all out, made after the home side won the toss.

Half-centuries from Justin Cantrell and Will Watts were just enough to take Downs to 226-8, but Graham Simpson (4-64) made them work hard.

Leighton Buzzard Town’s last pair clung on for a draw at Buckingham Town.

Simon Myatt hit 89 as Buckingham made 251-8 after being put in to bat, with 31 coming from the last three overs.

Jonny Cater made 33 and Ben Stafford 32, while left armer Dan Scott took 3-74.

Philip Whatmore then hit 49 and Chris Thompson 43 in Leighton’s effort, but Vishal Valambhia (4-41) left them floundering on 210-9.
