MIKE Hume claimed five wickets to help Faringdon to a crushing 146-run victory at Wootton & Boars Hill in Division 1 of the OCA League.

On a rain-affected day, Faringdon batted first and posted 230-5 as Rob Owen hit 74 and Jack Tomes 42.

Wootton had no answer to Hume’s spell of 5-22 as they were tumbled out for 84.

East & West Hendred edged past Marsh Gibbon by five runs.

Andy Francis hit 82 and Dave Prosper 65 as the hosts set 240-7.

Sam Richardson, who had earlier taken 3-61, then hit 68 not out and Stuart Leonard 64, but Marsh Gibbon finished just short on 235-7.

The other three games in the division were washed out by the rain.

Despite the conditions, however, there was time for Asif Shah to score 100 as Yarnton & Cowley reached 238-6 at Stonesfield.

The hosts were struggling on 114-6 when the rain brought an early finish.

Wolvercote were 91-8 at Westcott when the match was abandoned, while Oxenford were 63-5 chasing Witney Swifts’ 104 all out when the heavens opened.

In Division 2, Middleton Cheney cruised to a seven-wicket victory at Stanton Harcourt.

Stanton posted 235 all out as Ollie Pascoe top-scored with 62.

But the target proved no problem for Cheney, who reached 238-3 as Steve Twynham hit 103 and Stephen King 98 not out.

Chipping Norton’s trip to Tetsworth was curtailed by the rain.

Martin Elliott had taken all four Tetsworth wickets, leaving the hosts at 107-4, but the match was washed out.

Watlington had bowled visitors Hanborough out for just 125 as Neil Maguire claimed 4-42, but there was no opportunity for a reply.

In Division 3, Bampton ran out 41-run winners at west Oxfordshire rivals Kilkenny.

Simon Launder scored 61 in Bampton’s 198-8, Chris May taking 3-53.

In reply, Kilkenny fell for 157 as Launder took 3-26.

Craig Atlas took 5-24 for Chadlington as his side beat visitors Dorchester by seven wickets.

Dorchester were bowled out for 122, before Freddie Magee (42no) and Glenn McCallum (32no) steered the hosts home.

Risinghurst posted 161 all out against Kidlington before the rain forced an abandonment, while Stuart Armstrong’s 135 not out was in vain for Marcham who were washed out at West Ilsley.

Marcham set 249-7 and had reduced Ilsley to 84-4 before the wet weather intervened.

In Division 4, Shrivenham recorded a 68-run win at Fringford in a low-scoring clash.

They had been skittled out for just 91 as Ian Hedley took 5-36.

But the home side subsided to 23 all out in reply in worsening conditions as Hussain Kanchwala took 5-3 and Naveed Akram 4-17.

Ali Malik’s 6-23 for Radley was in vain as Hook Norton won by three wickets.

Radley were shot out for 98, Jordan Glazier taking 4-21.

Malik took six of the seven wickets to fall in Hooky’s reply, but they reached 100-7 to secure victory.

Ducklington pulled off a fine run-chase to defeat hosts Sunningwell by three wickets.

The home side set 203-9 as Sam Baker hit 72 and Adam Duffield 59 not out.

Joe Fullerton (58) and George Townsend (40no) then led Ducklington to 204-7.

Uffington won a thriller against visitors Deddington by two wickets, Ranulph Leigh-Pemberton hitting 40 not out as they reached 136-8, having bowled their rivals out for 135 – Martin Key and Peter Jones took three wickets apiece.

Freeland made a welcome return to the league and posted a 21-run victory against Kennington in Division 5.

Freeland were thankful to Marc Buckingham’s 59 as they scored 133 all out, Duncan Robson taking 4-13.

Robson then bludgeoned a quickfire 61 to lead Kennington’s reply, but when he fell, they subsided to 112 all out, Simon Brown taking 3-35.

Yarnton & Cowley 2nd beat Swinbrook by five wickets.

Saqib Mohammed was the star, taking 6-33 in Swinbrook’s 104 all out.

Yarnton then eased to victory at 105-5.

Nigel Collins scored 100 for Wootton & Boars Hill 2nd, but it was in vain as their match at Dorchester 2nd was abandoned in Division 6.

Elsewhere, Letcombe posted a one-run win at home to Risinghurst 2nd.

Raj Kumar (4-13) and Scott Thomas (4-22) combined to dismiss the hosts for just 63, but Risinghurst then crumbled to 62 all out, Sam May taking 3-14.

Wolvercote 3rd saw off hosts Witney Swifts 2nd by seven runs in another low-scoring affair.

Charlie Cunningham’s 44 not out helped Wolvercote to 127 all out, Craig Horne taking 4-14 for Swifts.

Irfan Shah then took 4-31 and Will Coles 3-31 as Swifts were bowled out for 120.

Middleton Cheney 2nd’s home match with Chesterton was abandoned, but not before Andy Cross had scored 102 in Middleton’s 187-7.

Chesterton were deep in trouble at 49-7 when the rain intervened.

In Division 7 North, Mark Fitzgerald had an incredible debut for Charlbury 3rd as he returned figures of 7-25 in his side’s three-wicket win over Stanton Harcourt 2nd.

Fitzgerald’s haul helped to dismiss Stanton for 134, and then Charlbury reached 135-7 to secure the points.

Chipping Norton hammered visitors Westcott 2nd by 123 runs.

Danny Molyneux (79no) and Dan Stafford (56) saw Chippy to 211-4, and then Andrew Tompkins took 4-26 in Westcott’s 88 all out.

Veteran John Moss scored 83 in Kidlington 3rd’s 187-7 against Hook Norton, but unfortunately for the home side, the match was abandoned.

In Division 7 South, Steventon 2nd cruised to a 149-run victory at Bampton 2nd.

Dave Webb scored 85 as Steventon set 194 all out, before Tom Cannon claimed 5-9 in 12 accurate overs to help dismiss Bampton for just 45.

Faringdon 2nd saw off visitors Sunningwell 2nd by eight wickets.

Alan Johnson (4-11) and Simon Cornish (3-30) combined to restrict Sunningwell to 108-9, and then Richard Marlow scored 36 not out to steer Faringdon to 112-2.

Harwell International made it two wins from two as they beat hosts Kennington 2nd by seven wickets, while Watlington 2nd’s trip to Marcham 2nd was abandoned due to the rain.
