THIRTEEN-year-old James Coles produced a truly astonishing performance as he almost single-handedly helped Aston Rowant 4th to a 147-run victory over visitors Horspath 4th in Division 7 of the Cherwell League.
Batting first, the highly promising Coles hammered a brilliant 129 not out to help his side to 252-3, Jonathan Atkins chipping in with 55.
But Oxfordshire Under 13 player Coles was not finished yet.
He then claimed a hat-trick in remarkable figures of 6-23 as Horspath were skittled out for 105 in their reply.
This was surely one of the finest all-round performances by a junior cricketer in Cherwell League history.
Aston Rowant 3rd also had a centurion as Craig Barber’s 110 not out helped his side to a 132-run at Buckingham Town 3rd in Division 6.
Rowant posted 220-7, Sam Lyon adding 70, before Tim Foster took 7-28 as Buckingham were shot out for 88.
Christopher Lamb’s 6-72 was in vain for Sandford St Martin 2nd, who lost by 109 runs at home to Banbury 4th.
Steve Partington hit 58 as Banbury set 222-6 before taking 4-9 as Sandford were all out for 113 in reply.
Nick Edmondson’s 95 not out helped Tiddington 3rd to an eight-wicket win at home to Twyford 3rd in Division 9.
