OPENING bowler Dan Savin scooped Bicester & North Oxford’s top prize at the club’s annual dinner and presentation night.

Savin’s 29 wickets, taken at 13.26 runs each, saw him pick up the player of the year award in a season which saw the club win promotion to Division 3 of the Cherwell League.

Stalwart Steve Conway’s 25 wickets at just 10.7 runs apiece earned him the second team player of the year prize.

He helped the side to a third-placed finish in Division 7.

The third team player of the year award was scooped by Marcus Mears, whose 199 runs, at an average of 22, steered the side to sixth in Division 9 North.

George James also played a pivotal role for the third team and claimed the young player of the year prize for his performances with the bat (167 runs at 18.6) and with the gloves.

Bicester’s clubman of the year award was shared between first team captain Ryan Moore and vice Olly Ward for their off-field efforts, organising and promoting an increasing number of social events.

Ward also claimed the Thursday XI player of the year gong.

The club’s preparations for 2017 get under way next month.

New players of all abilities are encouraged to attend winter net sessions at The Cooper School, Churchill Road, Bicester.
