FOR the second time in three Division 1 games, Cumnor were denied by wet weather after being in a strong position.

Against Twyford two weeks ago, Cumnor were close to victory when the heavens opened, and on Saturday, they had reduced visitors Tiddington to 90-8 when the rain intervened.

Only Chris Goodman (33) got going as Tiddington struggled to adapt to the conditions, Andrew Russell taking 3-25.

But the rain had the final say.

Aston Rowant 2nd had posted 228-5 in 53 overs before their home clash with Great Brickhill was abandoned.

Tim Morgan top-scored with 62 and Thad Cooper hit 45.

Horspath closed their innings on 213-8 at Twyford, but there was no chance for Twyford to reply.

Simon Butler top-scored with 83 for Long Marston, but it was all in vain.

Marston had racked up 239-6 against hosts Leighton Buzzard Town, Lee Selfe taking 3-46.

Banbury 2nd against Dinton was called off without a ball being bowled.

In Division 2, Abingdon Vale had worked themselves into a strong position at home to Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts, before the rain forced the players off.

Left-arm spinner Paul White mastered the tricky conditions to take 4-14 in 11.3 overs as Nondies were shot out for a paltry 117, Jonathan Jenkinson and Matthew Darley also claiming two wickets apiece.

But there was no chance for Vale to reply.

Conor Jones shone with the ball for Challow & Childrey as his 3-36 helped to restrict hosts Oxford 2nd to 161-9.

Ross Packham and George Trewby took two wickets each, but the rain intervened.

The games between Cropredy and Buckingham 2nd, Great & Little Tew 2nd and Sandford St Martin and Wolverton and Oxford Downs were all abandoned without a ball being bowled.

DIVISIONS 3-5

AIDEN Kammel returned magnificent figures of 8-38, only for the rain to scupper Didcot’s chances at home to Cublington.

Kammel’s superb haul reduced the visitors to 94 all out inside 25 overs, but the wet weather put paid to any hopes of a run chase.

Oxford Downs 2nd were in a strong position on 180-3 at home to Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd before the rain intervened.

Amin Rafiq hit 71 not out and Darryl Woods 53 not out.

Horley faced just six balls against visitors Bledlow Ridge, while the matches between Banbury 3rd and Great Brickhill 2nd, plus Blewbury & Wallingford’s trip to Tiddington 2nd, did not even get started.

Ollie Burney took a five-wicket haul for Witney Mills before their Division 4 home clash with East Oxford was rained off.

East Oxford were all out for 171, Chetan Walia making 49 and Burney taking 5-45.

Mills replied with 44-2 off 11 overs.

Jude Ramanadanpulle claimed 4-38 for Bletchley Town to reduce hosts Dinton 2nd to 124 before the heavens opened.

Bicester & North Oxford had bowled visitors Stokenchurch out for just 102 in the 35th over.

Westbury were denied after making 234 against hosts Kimble.

Ben Rae led the way with 70 for Westbury, who were all out inside 35 overs.

Oxford 3rd reduced hosts Brackley to 115-4, Felix Ogden (4-49) taking all four wickets, but again the rain intervened.

Didcot 2nd managed to grab a nine-wicket win at Kingston Bagpuize before the rain came in Division 5.

They bowled their hosts out for 67 in 26 overs, before Peter Sharp (27no) and Kieran Beesley (24) led Didcot to 68-1 inside 15 overs.

George Setterfield’s half-century helped Cumnor 2nd to 159 all out at Chearsley.

Alex Hodder-Williams chipped in with 35, while Marc Hignell took 4-46.

But there was no chance of a resumption.

Banbury 4th slumped to 102 all out at Horspath 3rd as Chris Fox took 4-17 and Stuart Berry 3-38.

Again though, there was no chance of a Horspath reply.

Thame Town 2nd were in a strong position at home to Abingdon Vale 2nd.

Guy Holmes had top-scored with 65 not out and Ed Barnett hit 53 not out, as Thame were handily placed on 170-3.

Bledlow Ridge reached 127-4 in 45 overs at home to Leighton Buzzard 2nd, Phillip Brooks unbeaten on 54.

DIVISIONS 6-9

REMARKABLY, Bledlow Village 2nd defied the odds by getting in a full game at home to Horley 2nd in Division 6, running out 50-run victors.

In their own micro-climate, not a single over was lost at Bledlow, as they racked up 230-8 in their 53 overs, Martin Bloomfield hitting 94 and Mohammed Fiaz taking 4-49.

Fiaz then top-scored with 69 not out in Horley’s reply, but they were bowled out for 180 with one over to spare, Jim Spooner taking 3-36 and Matt Lomas 3-60.

Nathan Perna had put Twyford 2nd into a strong position at Buckingham Town 3rd, but it was all ultimately for nothing as the rain had the final say.

Perna had hit 60 out of Twyford’s 120 all out, but Buckingham were reeling on 25-4 as Perna then took 3-7, only for the match to be called off.

Ed Somerton’s 4-51 helped Cropredy 2nd reduce hosts Long Marston 2nd to 174-8 before the rain.

In Division 7, Chris King smashed 115 for Wolverton Town 2nd at Cublington 2nd before the match was abandoned, with Wolverton at 194-4.

Westbury 2nd could not force victory at home to Kimble, despite the Division 8 match running its full course.

Dan Willett hit 69 as Westbury declared on 195-8, while Kimble closed out for a draw at 105-5 .

In Division 9 North, Patrick Berry’s 7-13 for Bletchley Town reduced Bicester & North Oxford 3rd to 151-9, Robin Wilkins hitting 53.
