ATHLETICS: Oxford students help make history

Nearly 100 athletes from Oxford and Oxford Brookes universities competed in the first-ever athletics event to be staged at London’s Olympic Stadium yesterday.

They were taking part in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships, also doubling as the test event for the Olympics.

Nine runners lined up for the first race, -– the women’s 400 metres - which was won by Justine Kinney, from the University of Loughborough.
