OXFORDSHIRE ladies’ cross country champion Frances Briscoe finished 16th in the Midlands Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.
Running for her first-claim club Coventry Godiva Harriers, Briscoe, who also competes for White Horse Harriers, clocked 30mins 15secs.
Nigel Marley, from Bicester, finished 47th in the men’s race.
Also a first-claim Coventry member, Marley crossed the line in 40.53.
l OXFORDSHIRE athletes enjoyed a successful day at the Brass Monkey 10K, run on the Rockingham Speedway circuit in Corby.
David Bruce, an Oxford University student, won the race in a time of 32mins 14secs, while former Headington Roadrunner Allison Hurst was first lady home in 38.46.
Hurst edged out Oxford University’s Jessica Leitch for her title.
Alchester’s Richard Gould finished eigth in 36.09.
Paul Wycherley, Great British kayaker and world record holder, will fire the starting gun as part of the race’s Olympic theme.
