Oxford City's Melissa Hawtin suffered her first defeat of the season in the under 13 girls' category at Saturday's Inter-Counties Cross Country Championship, but still managed to clinch the Cross Challenge title.

Hawtin crossed the line in 13.41 at Wollaton Park, but her consistent displays saw her finish the season on 137 points five ahead of Chesterfield's Emily Fisher.

In the under 15 section, Hawtin's Oxford City teammate Bea Swords was in good form as she finished eighth in 15.34.

Banbury's Sophie Tyers was next across the line for Oxfordshire, finishing 49th in 16.36.
