WHITE Horse Harrier Richard Jégou set a British veteran age group record while picking up two victories in a throwing competition at Stoke-on-Trent.
Competing in the LSW Strongest Man (Light) competiton for men aged 60 to 69, Jégou proved unbeatable.
After the run-ups and circles were cleared of snow, Jégou produced the furthest throw in any age group, 5.91m with a 35lb (16.88kg) heavy weight.
He also won the Greek discus with a throw of 22.02m – and threw the 28lb-heavy hammer 9.24m. His combined points score for these three throws was a British record.
The Heavy Weight Triathlon was a much closer affair. Each competitor had to throw three weights of heavy hammer – 5kg, 7.5kg and 10kg.
Jégou’s total distance of 45.49m secured first place.
