ATHLETICS: All the action from the White Horse Half Marathon as Headington Road Runners claimed double county gold

The event doubled up as the Oxfordshire County Championships.

Tom Wilner-Reid, Antony Hanner-Hopwood, Jason Smith and Tristan Clarke led Headington’s men to gold.

And they finished the day with two county titles as the senior ladies team of Rachel Shaw, Judith Kalthoff and Charlotte Sugden triumphed.

David Hudson, who competes for BRJ Run and Tri in Cambridgeshire, took the individual men’s title, with Woodstock Harrier James Bolton claiming vet 40 gold.

Eynsham’s Robert Storey, Headington’s John Griffiths and Alchester’s Nigel Lambert won the vet 50, 60 and 70 titles respectively.

Liz McAllister, of Eynsham was crowned ladies and vet 35 champion, with Katy Young, who is unattached, scooping the senior honour.

White Horse Harrier Rachel Bennett, Abingdon’s Wendy Millatt and Eynsham’s Kate Williamson clinched the vet 45, 55, and 65 titles respectively.

Meanwhile, White Horse Harrier Clare Mowforth recorded a fantastic time of 3.24.37 in her first Rome Marathon.

She was the first British woman home, finishing 13th in her LV35 age group.
