Hannah England made a rare appearance for Oxfordshire when she competed in the South East Counties Cross Country Championship at Biggleswade.


The former world championship 1500 metre silver medallist led the Oxon women’s team home with a fourth-placed finish in 21mins 52secs over the 6k course.

Oxon women finished eighth out of the ten competing counties.

Alchester's Sarah Rendell was their next woman home in 23.31, while their other scoring runners were Jessica Webb (Woodstock) and Abingdon’s Sarah Lackman.

The next best individual display for Oxon came from Abingdon’s Fiona Bunn, who was sixth in the under 17 race over 4k with a time of 18.07.

Oxford City won the South East Masters Cross Country V60-69 club title, led home by Richard Grant, who claimed the silver medal and Stewart Thorp, who was third.
