Oxford City’s under 13 girls took the team title in the second round of the Chiltern Cross Country League at Milton Keynes.

Alex Scrivener led the team home in fourth followed by Daisy Palmer (seventh), Alisha Williams (18th), Libby Newhouse (24th), Emily Haines-Gray (33rd) and Gabby Scotting (82nd).

Scrivener won bronze in the Cross Challenge and was third in the league.  The club’s under 15 girls were fourth with Jamie Garry their first finisher in 24th.

City’s under 11 girl Clover de Jong finished second in both the Cross Challenge and the league, while Henry Channon was fourth in the boys under 11 event.

Megan Humphreys was 32nd in the under 20 women’s race, while Martha Lloyd came 29th in the senior women’s race.

City’s Maxwell Robinson (62nd) was the first runner from an Oxfordshire club to finish in the senior men’s race, followed by Aaron Burgess in 77th as their team amassed 1,761 league points.

Headington Road Runners’ Neville Baker was third in the V60 race, while Helen Turley was third in the LV55 category.

Bicester AC’s Ben West was the first Oxon finisher in the under 15 boys race.

lPaul  Fernandez was the first British runner across the dunes of the Gobi Desert in China.

The Abingdon athlete, ninth overall and the first Vet 40 runner, completed the 62km course in 3hrs 52mins 35secs.
