Oxford-born triple jumper Nathan Douglas says he does not want the doping allegations against Mo Farah’s coach to hinder the double Olympic champion’s career, writes JACK JOHNSON.
Alberto Salazar, who coaches the 32-year-old middle-distance runner in America, has denied allegations made in a BBC investigation.
No suggestions have been made that Farah, who won gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the London 2012 OIympic Games, has been involved in doping.
However, Douglas, who has competed alongside Farah since they were juniors, says the double Olympic champion needs to get to the bottom of the allegations.
“I do feel for Mo a bit,” said Douglas.
“He is a really nice guy and it is horrible what he is going through.
“He needs to go and ask his coach and get to the absolute bottom of it.
“If he has any doubts then he needs to leave his coach in my mind – it is as clear as that.
“The last thing he wants is for it to ruin his career because it has been absolutely amazing.”
