ABINGDON’S Paul Fernandez triumphed after beating his deadly rival James Bolton (Woodstock Harriers) in a thrilling duel at the Hooky 6.

Fernandez came out on top in the wind and the rain at Hook Norton in 32mins 35secs, just two seconds ahead of Bolton.

Sophie Carter (Belgrave Harriers) won the ladies race in 36.12.
