Luisa Chantler Edmond repeated last year’s hat-trick of wins in the Oxfordshire Schools’ Track & Field Championships at Tilsley Park, Abingdon.

Representing the City, the 15-year-old, from Cherwell School, Oxford, won all three intermediate girls’ throwing events.

She recorded personal bests to take the javelin (31.21m) and the discus (37.20) as well as triumphing in her strongest discipline, the shot, with 12.23.

Chantler Edmond won silver in the junior age group in the latter event at the English Schools’ Championships 12 months ago.

And now she will bid to go one better in this year’s championships at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium on July 11 and 12.

City’s Alice Hopkins (Lord Williams’s, Thame) recorded a double in the 80m hurdles in 12.3 secs and the long jump with 5.04.

Oxford Mail:

North’s Yolanda Martin (Warriner School, Bloxham) wins the junior girls’ long jump with 4.59m

North’s Jess Barker (Burford) shone on the track with a brace of wins in the 200m (26.6) and 300m (42.4).

In the senior girls’ competition, Vale’s Kathryn Woodcock, an English Schools’ discus silver medallist last year, warmed up for Birmingham with a winning throw of 39.26.

And she made it a double on the day by taking the shot with 9.76.

North’s Emma Slevin (Kingham Hill) ran well within herself to record a double in the 800m in 2mins 27.2secs and the 1,500m in 4.55.6.

The junior girls’ competition saw North’s Jade O’Dowda (Gosford Hill, Kidlington) record a brace of wins, taking the 75m hurdles in 11.8 and the high jump with a clearance of 1.60.

In the boys’ competitions, North’s Tom-asz Napiorkowski starred in the senior discus with a national standard throw of 46.31.

The 18-year-old, from Blessed George Napier, Banbury, made it a double on the day by taking the shot with 13.53.

Vale’s Teddy Curtis sparkled on the track, winning the 400m (57.9) and the 800m (2.10.9).

Chipping Norton’s Alfie Rowett claimed a sprint double for the North in the intermediate 100m (11.3) and 200m (22.8).

Oxford Mail:

Vale’s Will Crisp leaves his rivals trailing to win the junior boys’ 1500m in 4mins 25.5secs

Vale’s Will Crisp was a runaway winner of the junior 1,500m, crossing the line a massive 18 seconds clear of his nearest pursuer, South’s Nick Wiltshire, to take victory in 4.25.5.

Vale pipped holders North for the overall team title by three points, with City third.
