Beth Hawtin, whose three-year unbeaten run in the Oxfordshire Schools' Cross Country Championships came to an end 12 months ago, captured her fourth county crown at a muddy Radley College.

The 16-year-old, from Gosford Hill, Kidlington, who was third behind Chipping Norton’s Megan Humphreys in the intermediate girls’ race in 2013, stepped up to the 4.1km senior event this time.

And she added to her brace of junior titles and one intermediate success by taking victory from Emma Slevin (Kingham Hill, Chipping Norton) and Josie Harrison (King Alfred’s, Wantage).

Fiona Bunn (St Helen & St Katharine, Abingdon) ran a fine tactical race to follow up last year’s junior triumph by taking the intermediate honours.

She came from off the pace in the 3.4km race to beat reiging champion Humphreys and Storm Sunderland (St Edward’s, Oxford).

Gosford Hill's Chloe Ridewood was first home in the 2.9km junior race, beating Nancie Bowley (Gillotts, Henley) and Emily Thompson (Warriner, Bloxham).

Abingdon School’s Christian von Eitzen won his third boys’ title with victory in the senior race over 7.5km.

Von Eitzen, who was successful twice as a junior, proved too strong for last year’s winner, Nathan Meredith (Henley College) and Matthieu Marshall (Cherwell, Oxford).

Nat Jones made it a double for Abingdon and also completed a personal brace by winning the 5.8km intermediate race.

Jones, the junior champion two years ago, led home teammate Michael Fabes and Ben Claridge (King Alfred’s, Wantage).

Faringdon’s Will Crisp repeated last year’s win in the junior race over 4.6km, which saw the highest number of finishers with 124.

Nick Wiltshire (St Birinus, Didcot) was runner-up with Joesph Inns (Magdalen College School, Oxford) taking the minor honours.

Abingdon’s boys and St Helen & St Katharine’s girls took the team honours with two wins apiece.

The top eight in each race now go on to represent Oxfordshire in the English Schools’ Championship at Donington Park, Leicestershire, on March 15.
