OXFORD MAIL CROSS LEAGUE
Skip Snelson led the way for Oxfordshire clubs in the junior races at Ascott-under-Wychwood.
Snelson won the under 11 boys’ race after a great battle with Radley’s Henry Insley.
The pair both clocked 3mins 49secs for the 1.2km course, but Snelson edged it on the line.
Oxford City’s Joseph Richardson was third in 3.55, securing the only Oxon junior one-two-three.
Radley, however, were the most successful Oxfordshire club, recording three second places and two thirds.
Rachel Burton was runner-up in the under 11 girls’ race over 1.2km, clocking 4.19.
Radley clubmate Henry Insley matched her position in the under 11 boys’ race, recording 3.49.
Their other runners-up spot came from Daniel Stokell in the under 13 boys’ event over 2km, where he clocked 7.46.
Jack Mitchell was a second behind Stokell with 7.47, while Harriet Batstone recorded 8.29 for third in the under 13 girls race.
White Horse Harriers’ star performer was Thomas Kelly, who finished second in the combined under 15/17 boys’ race.
Kelly completed the 3.5km course in 17.56.
Oxford City enjoyed two more second places, courtesy of Chloe Ridewood and Megan Humph-reys.
Ridewood was under 13 girls runner-up in 8.27, with Hunphreys achieving the same distinction in the under 15/17 race, where she recorded 13.52 for the 3.5km route.
Bicester’s Mollie Acton was the third under 11 girl home in 4.23, one place and two seconds ahead of clubmate Amy Gould.
