CITY of Oxford swimmer Rosie Bancroft, has been earmarked for the Paralympics by being invited to attend a ‘Road to Rio’ training camp in Dubai in December.

The camp is run by the World Class Disability Programme of British Swimming.

The 17-year-old was born with her right leg missing below the knee.

Having made the qualifying times, she is also hoping to be chosen for the development programme. Her selection for the camp follows her excellent performance in the 400m freestyle at the British Gas ASA National Youth Championships in Sheffield in July Bancroft, who competes in the S10 category of disability swimmers, came fourth in the final, achieving a time of 4min 53secs.

This places her seventh in the International Paralympics Committee’s world rankings.

Bancroft competed in the London 2012 Paralympics trials, but did not make the team.
